I remember reading The Mitten as a young girl and I loved this book. The main idea is imagination. This book involves animals as well, which is a popular theme among children.

The illustrations in The Mitten do just that. This is a cute story of a girl who loses one of her mittens. Hardcover , 31 pages.

Another idea for using this book as a teaching tool would be sequencing or retelling the story. It has a ton of repetitive text and the entire pages are illustrated with only a few words per page. Lots of things: make a sleeping bag for a stuffed animal, put it on your dog's tail, wave it like a flag. I was remembering the grandmother at the end who was surprised at how big one mitten had stretched upon the boys arrival home.

Preview — The Mitten by Jan Brett. I read this book to my brother. The illustrations make this story come alive, especially as we can see each animal make their way into the mitten while it grows in size. View all 11 comments.

9/1/ · One Mitten is a great poetry and picture book for little kids. I couldn't find the lexile level, but it is for primary grades, specifically for Kindergarten. Rather than there being a main character, for this book, there's a main thing which is the mitten. This is in a narrator point of view and it takes place in a home on a cold snowy day/5. 1/3/ · The Book. I love how creative the girl in this book is. She uses her imagination to come up with lots of creative ways to use one mitten. This one simple object, a mitten, offers a lot of fun playful experiences for the girl. Then she finds the second mitten, opening the door to even more imaginative ideas. Act out the Actions. One sunny yellow mitten, one creative little girl, and a dozen playful uses for that one mitten. And when the second mitten is found, it doubles the fun! two mittens open up a whole new realm of closdelascoer.eu again, the creators of Book! look at the world through a young child's eyes, revealing the fun that's hidden in.

The idea for One Mitten arrived one New Year’s Day while I was shivering on a street corner, watching the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. Even though this was “sunny California,” it was really cold, and we were bundled up in coats and hats.. While I was ooohing and aaahing over the floats, I noticed a toddler holding a mitten someone had dropped.
